First Impressions
Magic-Flight-Launch-Box

Design: The Magic Flight Launch Box has a very unique design. Made out of a block of wood (users can choose between cherry, maple and walnut), it looks more like a DIY project than a device that was professionally made. However simple it looks, the Launch Box is a product of sophisticated engineering that accounts for its efficiency to vaporize dry herb. It has an acrylic screen that swivels to expose the herb chamber and an acrylic tube attachment where users draw from. Another feature that sets it apart from other vaporizers is that the Launch Box is powered by two AA batteries.

Build Quality: Crafted in the USA, the Magic Flight Launch Box is exquisitely made. It is solidly built out of a single block of wood and it’s built to last a long time. The acrylic cover is of high quality and the acrylic tube isn’t made from cheap, thin material. The only weak area is probably the screen, which shouldn’t be tampered with anyway. As long as one uses it correctly and does not abuse it, the Magic Flight Launch Box will serve users for many years.

What’s in the Box: Each purchase of the Magic Flight Launch Box also includes two rechargeable NiMH Glyph batteries with caps, a battery charger, one felt-lined decorative tin, one acrylic draw stem, one cleaning brush, and a user manual.

Vaping Experience

Usability: The Launch Box is not exactly easy to use at first and has a slight learning curve. Given some practice, one will get used to it and it becomes second nature.

Before filling up the vaporizer, users should prepare the herbs first by finely grinding them up. The finer the grind, the better your vape will be. This ensures even vaporization and that no residue is left in the tank. It seems like extra work, but if you want to maximize the Launch Box’s potential, this is highly recommended.

Once filled, users engage the battery to start vaporizing. Draws should be long and slow. Users recommend pulls of about five to ten seconds. While the device does not have any screens to show what temperature you are drawing at, its design allows one to control vapor heat, depending on how long the herb is heated and how fast one draws. If the herb seems overheated, the draw is too slow. If there is no vapor whatsoever, the draw is too quick. It takes practice, but it is worth investing time in to perfect it.

The other way to draw is by taking small, quick, draws to allow vapor build up inside the chamber. This is much easier to do, though tastes vary, and users should try both methods to find what works for them.

It is also recommended that the material be mixed between draws or at least every other draw. The back end of the included cleaning brush can be used to gently mix the herb inside. Alternatively, one can hold the lid tight and give the box a firm shake. After shaking, make sure that the herb is all settled in the center of the trench before vaping.

Vapor Production and Performance: The vapor quality from the Launch Box is good, though not on-par with top shelf vaporizers, which offer smoother and tastier vapes. The hit is still very potent, showing the effectiveness of the device.

Overall, the Launch Box is a good performing vaporizer. It is even efficient when using just a pinch of herb, which should give users about five to eight draws. Ultimately, the number of draws depends on how one uses it.

The device itself will last a long time and Magic Flight offers very lenient replacement policies. Customer service is also great, leaving users secure with the knowledge that their devices will be looked after. It is also a testament to how much the company believes in its product.

Battery Life and Atomizers: The device uses two AA batteries and can last users through several hours of vape time. It goes without saying that battery life also depends on how high the temperature is set, how you vape, how often it is used, and how long the device is left on.

The heating chamber inside the Launch Box is simple, yet effective. As mentioned, there is no way to figure out the temperature the device is at, but the simple, elegant solution to control heat is in how you draw. It may seem crude, but it works well if done correctly. It does take some trial and error to figure out how to get the perfect vape temperature, but for a low-cost, portable vaporizer, it does the job.
