First Impressions
skycloud-vaporizer-review

Design: The KandyPens SkyCloud is unobtrusive, looking more like a piece of makeup than a vape pen. What makes it all the more impressive is that it is able to do so much with so little real estate. Attaching atomizers do add to its size, though it is still easily pocketable with or without attachments.

Extremely portable, users don’t have to worry about the SkyCloud being disassembled in the pocket or purse since the atomizer is locked securely to the battery.

Build Quality: While not as robust as more expensive vape pens, the SkyCloud is still a well-made device with no rattling or loose fittings. With care, you can expect the SkyCloud to last a couple of years.

It also comes with a lifetime warranty, so you can rest easy knowing you’re protected if the device breaks down.

What is in the Box: For what it’s worth, you get a lot of accessories aside from the vape pen itself. That includes: dabber tool, two mouthpieces, chamber for heating loose leaf, waxy oil atomizer and insruction manual.

Vaping Experience

Usability: The SkyCloud is well-designed and very simple to use. You can use dry herbs, oils, or e-liquid just by switching out the atomizers.

To switch, all you need to do is snap the top of the battery off, then attach the atomizer you wish to use. To fill, simply remove the mouthpiece, fill the chamber with herbs, oil, or e-liquid, replace the mouthpiece, and vape away.

Even activating the SkyCloud is extremely simple. Press the button five times to turn the device on, another five times to turn it off. While on, you simply press the button to heat the atomizer while you inhale.

There is an LED light that flashes every time you turn the vape pen on or off. The light stays on during use to let you know that it is activated. When the vape pen is activated for more than ten seconds, the unit shuts off automatically to prevent accidents, especially while in your pocket or purse.

Vapor Production and Performance: Vapor production is decent. As long as you take slow, steady draws, you can get decent hits and vapor from it. While vapor is not exactly as voluminous as other, more powerful devices, the SkyCloud works decently enough given its size and price.

Vaping on dry herbs can be a problem if you don’t know how to take long, steady drags. You should also make sure the herbs aren’t too finely ground so that it is vaporized properly. It’s should be mentioned that an optional honeycomb screen needs to be purchased in order to use dry herbs, which unfortunately is not included in the box.

However, with waxes and oils, the SkyCloud performs much better with no aftertaste. Using a wickless atomizer, you are given clean, flavorful hits without any wicks altering the taste.

Because of its diminutive size though, the SkyCloud is prone to getting too hot. KandyPens tried to alleviate this problem by implementing a 10-second shut-off feature. However, with continued use, it can still get pretty hot. The only workaround to this issue is to pace yourself by taking breaks in between several drags in order for the unit to cool down.

Overall, the KandyPens SkyCloud is worth the purchase price. Though vaping dry herbs could be better, with oil, wax and e-liquid, the pen works well.

Battery Life and Atomizers: Battery life is decent, being able to put out about 40 minutes worth of vaping before recharging. If used as an e-cigarette with e-liquid, this may seem too short, but as a vaporizer, 40 minutes is enough to last the whole day.

Charging the pen takes about two and a half hours. Short of good, but definitely not bad. The tank that comes with it is also one of the most leak-proof you’ll ever find. The problem with tanks is that most leak especially when moving around in your pocket or purse. With the SkyCloud tank, you won’t have to worry about getting stains on your clothes or bag.

Additional Details

The KandyPens SkyCloud is best for those who are looking for more versatility in their vaporizer for less. If you vape exclusively on dry herb, the SkyCloud isn’t for you. For a few more dollars, you can get the fantastic VaporFi Orbit Vaporizer instead. However, if you need a pen that can vaporize dry herb, oil/wax concentrates, and e-liquid, the SkyCloud is your best option at this price range. While other, more capable, multi-purpose vape pens are out there, the performance and versatility to price ratio of the KandyPens SkyCloud Vaporizer is hard to beat.
